POSIX client compression and checksumming

According to the documentation the POSIX client (among other things) handles the compression. Questions:

 1. Compression will be only performed by setting activation on the volume (hadoop mfs -setcompression ...)
 2. In term of compression, if we compare the POSIX client and the native OS NFS client, with the first one compression is done on the client side while in the second setup it is done on the server side

Now regarding checksumming, is there any handling difference between the POSIX and the native NFS client

Thanks
