HBase filter on columns other than rowkey column without full scan

Question asked by shnaker on Mar 5, 2015

We are using Mapr M7 for HBase. We want to implement secondary index to query/search the table based on the columns other than row key column.

For this we have 3 options in Apache HBase.

1. Use Coprocessors to create secondary index
2. Write our own secondary index.
3. Use filters.

1st option is not supported by Mapr M7.
2nd option i  dont know how to write the code without using coprocessors.
3. Filter by column other than rowkey works but it will involves full table scan which is not recomended.

Could you please suggest any option to solve this issue?

Can i use bloom filters etc..to filter the table  based on the columns other than row key column.
