MapR maven repo missing HBase 0.98 artifact

With 4.0.1 release I am trying to recompile our code against HBase 0.98, however maven builds are failing to find the artifact in MapR maven repo. Here is the pom.xml -

        <repository>
            <!--  http://doc.mapr.com/display/MapR/Maven+Repository+and+Artifacts+for+MapR -->
            <id>mapr-releases</id>
            <url>http://repository.mapr.com/nexus/content/repositories/releases/</url>
            <snapshots><enabled>true</enabled></snapshots>
            <releases><enabled>true</enabled></releases>
        </repository>

        <dependency>
            <groupId>org.apache.hbase</groupId>
            <artifactId>hbase</artifactId>
            <version>0.98.4-mapr-1408</version>
        </dependency>

Now here is the error I get while trying to compile -

        [ERROR] Failed to execute goal on project XXX: Could not resolve dependencies for project
        com.XXX:1.0-SNAPSHOT: Failure to find org.apache.hbase:hbase:jar:0.98.4-mapr-1408 in
        http://repo1.maven.org/maven2 was cached in the local repository, resolution will not be
        reattempted until the update interval of mvnrepository has elapsed or updates are forced -> [Help 1]

Note, that the resolution was reattempted, since I removed the full maven cache (.m2). However I did check the destination dir for the artifact( /root/.m2/repository/org/apache/hbase/hbase/0.98.4-mapr-1408 ) and found that it contains no JAR.

Sounds like a possible problem with MapR maven repo?
