how to get rid of old HDFS

I am installing MapR on some machines which ran Hadoop before. After installing, I found that hadoop fs -ls will list the files of the old HDFS. Also, mapr returned "$HADOOP_HOME is deprecated." warning. How can I eradicate this old Hadoop instance so that it won't contaminate the current MapR instance?

To finalize this, I finally decide to reinsall the OS to eliminate the old Hadoop version completely...
Thanks for your help.
