Connect to HBase from different Host using Java

Question asked by dw99 on Aug 21, 2013
I have MapR 3 in VM. I want to connect to HBase using Java from a different Host. Code snippets of the Java client is below

    Configuration config = HBaseConfiguration.create();
    config.set("hbase.zookeeper.quorum", "192.168.86.128");
    config.set("hbase.zookeeper.property.clientPort", "5181");
    HTable testTable = new HTable(config, "test");

 and I am getting the below error

    13/08/21 15:03:41 INFO zookeeper.ClientCnxn: Session establishment complete on server mapr-desktop/192.168.86.128:5181, sessionid = 0x140a0557861004c, negotiated timeout = 180000
    13/08/21 15:03:42 INFO ipc.HBaseRPC: Server at mapr-desktop/192.168.86.128:60020 could not be reached after 1 tries, giving up.

Any suggestions ? I can see the MapR dashboard from https://192.168.86.128:8443/#dashboard so the connection between the Host and the VM looks fine.

Thanks in advance
