I want to run Impala on MapR, but don't know if MapR supports it. If so, what are the steps to configure Impala and MapR to make it work? Thanks.

This is has been one of the frustrating things about Impala for me. I've looked into it, on MapR, and while Cloudera claims open source, they've made it sufficiently obtuse when it comes to getting it to work without a Cloudera foundation that it's essentially tied to Cloudera for mos organizations. While it may follow the letter of the "open" moniker, it doesn't follow the spirit. Honestly, I gave up on an earlier version (i.e. trying to compile it and get it working on MapR) maybe new versions are better suited to cross-platform installs...
