mapred.child.java.opts to Set the JVM Timezone Going from Cloudera to Mapr

I have some jobs that I moved to a different cluster. I was using SET mapred.child.java.opts= -Duser.timezone=GMT; to set my timezone to GMT for the job. This worked in Cloudera, but MapR seems to be ignoring it. Is there an equivalent? This seems like it would be a hive thing, not a mapr thing, but it worked on Cloudera, and not MapR. I will go back and run more tests, but this is just a head scratcher, especially given Hive difficulties with the timestamp data type (multiple JIRAs)
