Default Volumes: Can I drop and recreate?

I'd like to drop and recreate some of the mapr related volumes that were assigned to my / Node topology (because I ignored that stuff on my first go around).  Now that I have a standard topology selected, I'd like them to exist in that. (For example so I can have a /decom topology not assigned to any nodes).  That being said.  Is there anything special about those? Can I just drop them, and recreate them with the same name, mount point, and settings?   What about the mapr.cluster.root. Will have major issues if I drop that (right now it's basically empty except for the volumes mounted off it)

Any thoughts here? I have M3, thus I can't change the Topology as you can M5.  Or do I need to start form scratch?
