EOFException on NFS mount

We have java processes that are creating upto 100k files in a mapr volume mounted via nfs on linux. Parallely other processes are reading these files, some custom monitoring processes are also listing the number of files from the same volume.

Sporadically we encounter EOFExceptions on the processes reading these files:

    java.io.EOFException
            at java.io.DataInputStream.readFully(DataInputStream.java:180)
            at java.io.DataInputStream.readLong(DataInputStream.java:399)
            at java.io.DataInputStream.readDouble(DataInputStream.java:451)

Any thoughts, or prior experiences with this kindof error? we added code that retries to read the file and that seems to work, but wanted to see if there is some proper fix to this exception.

MapR rocks !!
