whirr script - works but nfs wont start

I used the whirr scripts, and it worked more or less straight out of the docs.  I used a different ubuntu image (us-east-1/ami-1aad5273) because I was also on us-east and I went with 11.

I went with a simple setup:
whirr.instance-templates=5 mapr-simple

the 'first' node which runs cldb, etc is also supposed to run nfs, yet I get fails:
2011-11-10 11:04:52,9176 INFO nfsserver[15196] fs/nfsd/nfsha.cc:869 exiting: No license to run NFS server

No other node is configured to run nfs. The mapr-nfs package is installed, etc.
