Hi,

After struggling to find the correct form for adding jars to hive from the distributed file system (mainly replacing hdfs:// with maprfs://), it looks like Hive can use the UDFs from these files. The following set of commands fails (although Hive successfully adds the jar as resource...):

hive>add jar maprfs:///tmp/hive_udf.jar;

Added resource: maprfs:///tmp/hive_udf.jar;

hive>create temporary function pursway_cumulative_sum_for_rank as 'com.pursway.hive.udf.CumulativeSumForRankUDF';

FAILED: Execution Error, return code 1 from org.apache.hadoop.hive.ql.exec.FunctionTask

However, if I add a jar from a local directory then the "create temporary function" command succeeds.

Please let me know if I'm missing anything here...

Thanks,
Oren
