Kafka Connect-distributed stopped working

Question asked by rbukarev on Aug 6, 2018

All of a sudden Kafka Connect-distributed stopped working on my MapR 6 (kafka-1.0.1)

The log is full of messages like this:

[2018-08-07 04:30:35,524] ERROR Error polling: org.apache.kafka.clients.consumer.NoOffsetForPartitionException: Undefined offset with no reset policy for partition: /var/mapr/.__mapr_connect:status-0 (org.apache.kafka.connect.util.KafkaBasedLog:361)

When I try to issue a Kafka-Rest API command with curl, I get an timeout error:

[mapr@myhost123 logs]$ curl -i -H "Accept: application/json" -H "Content-Type: application/json" -X GET http://myhost123:8083/connectors
HTTP/1.1 500 Internal Server Error
Date: Tue, 07 Aug 2018 04:34:10 GMT
Content-Type: application/json
Content-Length: 48
Server: Jetty(9.2.22.v20170606)

{"error_code":500,"message":"Request timed out"}

I've checked that mapr user has a valid ticket on all nodes of the cluster, tried to delete and recreate topics, restarted Kafka Connect and Kafka Rest components, all to no avail.

Any ideas what else I'm missing?
