Hello Dear Members
I would like to know the procedure for setting a deadline for a snapshot.
You can take one-time snapshots using the MCS or the command line. If you take a one-time snapshot through the MCS, it will not automatically expire - you have to remember to remove it when you no longer need it. If you take a one-time snapshot through the command line, use the -retain parameter to specify how long to keep it. For example, to keep it for two weeks:
maprcli volume snapshot create -volume <vol name> -snapshotname <name> -retain 2w
If you want to take snapshots on a regular basis, you start by creating a schedule (easiest to do through the MCS). When you create a schedule, one of the things you specify is the retain time. All snapshots taken on that schedule will automatically expire based on the retain time in the schedule. A sample schedule looks like this, see the "Retain for" fields:
MapR Academy has an Administrator course, and one of the lessons covers snapshots in detail if you'd like to learn more. You can access the courses at http://learn.mapr.com. In the MapR v5 series, it's ADM 202 - Lesson 9. In the MapR v6 series, it's ADM 201 - Lesson 6.
