Unable to use hive in client node

Installed the the client software according to the docs (https://maprdocs.mapr.com/60/AdvancedInstallation/SettingUptheClient-redhat.html). Also installed mapr-hive on that same node and copied over the hive-site.xml from one of the cluster nodes to fill in the same file on the client. However, trying to run the hive command, I get this error:

Never seen this error before and the message does not give me much to try to debug. If anyone knows what could be happening here or somethings to try to get more information, input would be appreciated. Thanks.
