Unable to reduce memory allocation for NodeManager using yarn-site.xml

I'm using MapR sandbox "MapR-ES-ADM2100-1.ova" and trying to reduce amount of memory available to YARN by setting the following in yarn-site.xml file:

<property> <name>yarn.nodemanager.resource.memory-mb</name> <value>1024</value></property>

After restarting ResourceManager and NodeManager service, I can see that 5GB is allocated in MCS while expected result is 1 GB.

I played with this value a bit more and it turns out that I can set it to something greater than 5GB (to 6 or 7 GB for example) and it gets reflected in MCS correctly.

Is 5 GB a minimum amount of memory that can be set for NodeManager or am I missing something?
