We have a consumer running in the application which consumes messages from the MapR cluster. It was working fine and was able to fetch the messages but all of sudden we faced following issue,

org.apache.kafka.clients.consumer.NoOffsetForPartitionException: Undefined offset with no reset policy for partition: <STREAM_PATH>:<TOPIC_NAME>
at com.mapr.streams.impl.listener.NativeDataParser.parseListenerRecords(NativeDataParser.java:105)
at com.mapr.streams.impl.listener.MarlinListenerImpl.poll(MarlinListenerImpl.java:277)
at com.mapr.streams.impl.listener.MarlinListener.poll(MarlinListener.java:100)
at org.apache.kafka.clients.consumer.KafkaConsumer.poll(KafkaConsumer.java:1093)

I searched for this issue on internet and found that this issue occurs when there is no stored offset for a partition and no defined offset reset policy. But the thing which I don't understand is how this occurred all of a sudden and not when the consumer was started.

Can someone please explain more about this issue?
