Any side-effects from removing a MapR volume through the MCS?

Are there any weird sided effects that could result if, rather than removing or unmounting a mapr volume through the MCS, I were to just navigate to that volume in the mapr cluster mounted via NFS and "rm -rf the_volume"? What happens in this case?

As an aside, if we had two volumes v1 (with some quota q1) and v2 (with some quota q2) and mounted them to the cluster in the form /v1/v2, does any space taken up by v2 affect the quota q1?
