How to get MCS metrics working in 6.0 cluster not installed via installer

Just finished upgrading a cluster from 5.2.1 to 6.0. The cluster was originally installed by hand - not via the installer - so upgrading was also done entirely by hand (yum updates, configure.sh, etc...). The cluster itself seems to be working as expected, but all the various new metrics graphs in the MCS simply show "No data". I did install and configure the mapr-collectd module, but there's obviously something else that needs to be done. The only reference I've found to enabling the metrics in the documentation says to use the installer in "incremental install" mode, which I obviously cannot do here, because that assumes that I built the cluster via the installer to begin with.

What additional packages and/or configuration are required to get the metrics collection going?
