MapRFS Replication?

Kind of a quick question...

When you write a file to the MapR FS, and you have 3X replication ...

When does the file become 'visible' ?

Is it visible but locked as you write to it?

Is it visible but locked after you close but the other two copies of the block(s) are not yet written?

Or is it visible and available after the first copy of the file's blocks are written but the replicated blocks haven't been written?

I realize that this is getting in to minutia, but its a good thing to know in terms of timing.

Also if memory serves, MapR supports R/W files with a choice in exclusive/shared locks while HDFS doesn't allow R/W access (write once) and only allows for exclusive locks...
