Do MapR-FS stores 2 replicas in same server even if we have 3 servers?

I have come across the term "MapR-FS stores replicas in different storage pools". If there are 3 storage pools in a server and totally there are 3 servers ( with unique physical topology), are there chances that MapR-FS will store 2 replicas in 2 different storage pools of the same server.

In other words, how do I make sure that my replicas are stored in different machines. ( I know volume topology and physical topology will help here. But does it guarantee that data is stored in different servers or different storage pools)?
