I am currently using MapR Tables to store the data and am using Apache Drill to query the underlying data. So the data is stored in binary format and I use drill to convert the binary data to human readable data and feed it to our front end app. My question is regarding optimization, I think I can use parquet file format to store my data and use partition pruning technique and achieve better query execution times through Drill. It would be great if someone could throw light on this so that it would give me a better idea on how the data could be stored and queried through Drill, I guess am still not sure about the capabilities that MapR tables bring, i am just wondering would it make sense to use a mapr table when i can achieve what i want using parquet.
