MapR installation failed: Not able to select disk

Question asked by nshanmugam on May 25, 2017

I am trying to install MapR on a single node VM for basic development and testing. Have created a seperate partition of 500Gb. The partition can be accessed and is unmounted and even mkfs.ext3 runs smoothly on that. But during installation i am not able to select that partition, it's grayed out.

What are the other conditions for a disk to be selectable during installation?

Here is the output of lsblk command:

[root@blrdevlin000001 ~]# lsblk
NAME MAJ:MIN RM SIZE RO TYPE MOUNTPOINT
sr0 11:0 1 1024M 0 rom
sda 8:0 0 1T 0 disk
ââsda1 8:1 0 500M 0 part /boot
ââsda2 8:2 0 1023.5G 0 part
ââvg_blrdevlin0000-LogVol01 (dm-0) 253:0 0 64G 0 lvm [SWAP]
ââvg_blrdevlin0000-LogVol00 (dm-1) 253:1 0 400G 0 lvm /
ââvg_blrdevlin0000-LogVol02 (dm-2) 253:2 0 500G 0 lvm

The partition is of type lvm.

Here is the output of failed instance:

MapR installation Disk selection disabled
