Spyglass versus Splunk for log capture

We capture MapR logs, and some additional MapR metrics gathered via REST/CLI, in Splunk. The advantage of using Splunk is that it's our standard log aggregator, which makes information from all sources - OS, applications, software - available in one location. What would be the advantages of using Spyglass for log capture? What features would be lost by not using Spyglass for log capture?
