What is the advantages of binary table and json table in maprdb?
What are the specific uses of both? Example if possible
How to view these data apart from shell?
Hi Aditya Kishore and Anurag Choudhary,
Could you please join this discussion and share your MapR-DB knowledge?
Thank you very much!
Hi Sabamu L,
Which data type you use depends on your data. For example, the advantage of JSON data is it's a common data type used in web-based applications. You can use and view these data types using a variety of the ecosystem tools you learned about in ESS 101 – Apache Hadoop Essentials, like Spark or Drill. Drill has a GUI called Drill Explorer so you don't need a terminal shell to view your data.
Hope this helps!
Well, it is still rather unclear what are pro/cons of JSON tables vs Binary tables.
Have you taken ESS 100 – Introduction to Big Data, ESS 320 – MapR-DB Essentials, and ESS 400 – Apache Drill Essentials? These courses may help provide some insight.
There are also many discussions on this topic, for example on Stack Overflow: Binary serialization vs. JSON vs. xml - Stack Overflow
