Is it possible to pin table in MapR-FS just like as HDFS caching by using Impala DDL?
alter table TNAME set cached in 'pool_name';
Hi Aminul ,
Can you please expand on what you wish to accomplish first and environment you are in?
We have 7 node cluster with Impala and Phoenix+Hbase are running. As we are using server with 256 GB RAM, we would like to cache some Impala tables in RAM. That is why I was searching equivalent solution in MapR to HDFS caching where Impala table can be pinned using mentioned DDL. I was following the steps stated in below link.
Using HDFS Caching with Impala (CDH 5.1 or higher only)
Based on your Impala knowledge, can this be done? Please advise.
You cannot do this with MapR as it use filesystem cache.
Thanks for your response.
Does MapR-FS depend on filesystem cache?
If not, what is the recommended method for configuring FS cache and MapR-FS cache.
You can see more details about memory management in
How to manage MapR-FS (MFS) memory usage
Memory Allocation for Nodes
MapRFS has its own cache, as we cannot pin the table in it, the option you are looking for impala will not work.
