MapRFS is the newly developed file system for the MapR Distribution or Its just a Name given Instead of HDFS ?
Can anyone post exact differences..
Thanks in advance!!
Hi Harisha C N,
Broadly speaking, yes, MapR-FS is the MapR name for HDFS. However, there are many differences between MapR-FS and HDFS. For example, MapR-FS supports standard POSIX commands, while HDFS does not. There are also difference in how metadata is stored and replicated, and other architectural differences.

If you want a deeper dive, take ESS 101 – Apache Hadoop Essentials to learn more about HDFS and ESS 102 – MapR Converged Data Platform Essentials to learn more about MapR-FS. Finally, you can read the MapR File System (MapR-FS) documentation.
