What is the quickest way to get started with Kafka? Is it available with the Pre build VM?
The easiest method is probably to simply use MapR Streams instead of Kafka. Same API. Much simpler life-style. MapR Streams is enabled in the Community Edition of MapR. If you need enterprise features like HA and stream replication, there is an enterprise license available as well.
If you really need Kafka instead, just download and install the Apache package. You will lose out on a number of features available in MapR Streams, particularly with regard to ease of management and number of topics.
Thanks for your question, Mithun!
