can we create a web application using angularjs as frontend and backend in mapr db? If so what's the best resource to start with?
You can absolutely create a web application that leverages MapR-DB, I'd recommend writing your application (server-side) in a JVM language (Java, Scala, etc.) to take advantage of the MapR APIs. If you are thinking about using something like Ruby, you can check out my Blog post on integrating Ruby with MapR-DB and Streams to get started: Integrating MapR With Ruby: Getting started with MapR-DB and MapR Streams on JRuby | MapR
Thanks Ryan for your input. We will be using java and angularjs to create this web application which contains D3 charts.I have downloaded and configured Sandbox following the link http://doc.mapr.com/display/MapR/MapR+Sandbox+for+Hadoop , and also configured MapR Client following the link http://doc.mapr.com/display/MapR/Setting+Up+the+Client on windows machine. Command hadoop fs -ls is working form windows machine and it shows all the directory present in MapR Sandbox. Can you tell me a good source to work on POC and then full working application.
You can look at this application:
That shows how to develop a web application using a REST backend accessing MapR-DB JSON and an Angular front end.
I have a draft document that explains how to configure the client to connect to the DB :
Thanks Grall. I have used maprdb-ojai-rest-sample code in Sandbox and followed the instructions on github. Application was launched successfully and i was able to create user and blogs. I will read up your document regarding how to configure the client to connect to the DB and come back in case of issues.
Hey Grall, I was following the link Free Code Friday: Simplify Application Development with MapR-DB JSON and OJAI, a JSON-based API - YouTube , but when i tried creating a table using
where abhi is a json document.
and ran the java application, it is showing error ERROR Client fs/client/fileclient/cc/client.cc:5811 Thread: 14732 UpdateAndGetProc call 0 returns err 40 35.9 to 172.20.90.15:5660, fid 2118.95.1443888, upd 1 and it went to the unstoppable loop repeating the same error. I also checked if the table was created or not, i found that table was created with zero rows. Can you help me with this.
Tug Grall, hi there! Can you please reply to Abhishek's most recent comment here?
Thank you so much!
Do you still have the issue?
Thank you Tugdual!
Abhishek Shishodia are you still experiencing this?
Yeah, the issue still persist.
Thank you very much for confirming, Abhishek. Tug Grall, please advise. Thanks!
It is hard for me to debug this issue using only the community forum. If you have access to MapR Support, please log a ticket.
Also you can try, just to identify the source of the issue, to run your Java application directly from one of the the cluster to see if this is coming from the client configuration, or network.
