In our internal lab experiments, we observed that with the parquet format, the spill disk space is about 2x the uncompressed table size.
For example: if you have a parquet table that is 1GB, but the uncompressed table size (source data) is 8GB, then the spill disk space is about 16GB.
To minimize tt of spill disk required, you should set planner.memory.max_query_memory_per_node to a number larger than the default setting of 2G, provided you have additional memory available on your system.
