I'm looking for steps to safely migrate a cluster from an M5 cluster to an M3 cluster.
You can downgrade with ease. Care should be taken with identifying the active CLDB server.
# maprcli node cldbmaster
ServerID: 9004111925339330559 HostName: maprdemo
Once identified the stop the warden process on the none master CLDB nodes one at a time.
#service mapr-warden stop
remove the service CLDB and NFS
#yum erase mapr-cldb mapr-nfs
re-run the configure script on that node.
# /opt/mapr/server/configure.sh -R
Start up the warden service
#service mapr-warden start
wait 30 secs
Repeat this process on all but the master CLDB node.
Apply M3 license.
Here is my response to the same question :
Upgrade 3.1 directly to 5.1 OK?
I'm talking about License types not MapR Release versions. Thanks though.
Andrew East Moving from M5 to M3 does not involve an upgrade or migration. As far as I can tell, it simply involves removal of your existing M5 license and that should pretty much take you to the base license configuration, M3. Please bear in mind that such a move will disable many of the features that you were entitled to.
I'd say that this not a recommended path unless you have a very specific reason behind it. Please elaborate a bit more on that, if possible.
