I just started the course module for DEV 325 HBase Schema Design. However, it does not discuss schema design. Instead it discusses hotspots and such topics. The presentation is not in synch with the syllabus.
You are correct that we discuss hot spots in DEV 325, but we do so within the context of good schema design. Improper schema design is a common cause of hot spotting in a cluster using HBase, which can reduce the efficiency of the cluster. It is important to include this topic when discussing proper HBase schema design.
The HBase series covers a lot of content in the courses and lab exercises, and hot spotting is just one topic. You'll find that if you complete all of the courses and labs, you'll have a good, general understanding using HBase in the big data pipeline.
Based on your comment, I did review DEV 325 and found some formatting issues on a few of the slides. I have fixed those and refreshed the course content. Thanks, and good luck with your Hadoop education,
