In this document, you will learn how to apply a 30-day trial license to your MapR Community Edition Cluster in order to enable new features such as Advanced Multi-tenancy (such as Job Placement and Data Placement control), High Availability (HA) , Snapshots, Mirroring, and Replication.

To obtain and install a 30-day trial license, access the MapR Control System (MCS) and go to http://mapr.com/user to register your cluster.

Registering the MapR Cluster

On http://mapr.com/user log in with your MapR Community userid, and then click on Register a Cluster.

On the next screen, fill in the Cluster ID and the Cluster Name, and then select M5/M7. The trial license will unlock all enterprise features for 30 days.

After your license is registered, you will be able to see the license key on the previous screen or when you return to "My Clusters" under http://mapr.com/user:

Applying the License to the MapR Cluster

If your cluster has Internet access, under MCS you can navigate to System Settings - Manage Licenses and click on "Add licenses via Web."

If your cluster doesn't have Internet access, then you can click View Key (from the previous screenshot) and copy the license to your clipboard (or save the copy to a file).

On the MCS under System Settings - Manage Licenses you will have the option to "Add licenses via upload" or "Add licenses via copy/paste." Your choice will depend on whether you copied the license to your clipboard or saved it to a file.
