Symptoms:

When upgrade your cluster from earlier MapR versions like 3.x or 4.0.1 to 4.0.2 then when you try new mirror creation it fails as follows.

maprcli volume create -name rwmir -path /rwmir -type mirror -source rwtest1@my.cluster.com\
ERROR (10003) -  Volume create rwmir failed, Invalid argument

Root Cause:

The mirror creation fails  because on upgraded  4.0.2 cluster  "rwmirror.support" disabled which cause mirror creation fails with above error Invalid argument

maprcli config load -json | grep rwmirror
maprcli config load -json | grep rwmirror "mfs.feature.rwmirror.support":"0",

Solution:

Just enable "rwmirror.support"  on upgraded cluster to mirror to work.

maprcli config save -values '{mfs.feature.rwmirror.support":"1"}
maprcli config load -json | grep rwmirror
     "mfs.feature.rwmirror.support":"1",

For mirror to work between 4.0.2 cluster both clusters should have this feature "mfs.feature.rwmirror.support" at same level aka either both disabled or both enabled.
