Calling all Convergites: share something about your use cases!


So, if you didn't read my other blog post (Know Your Use Cases), let me just introduce myself as "the use case guy" at MapR. When I first joined MapR, I figured that the best way to understand how to market MapR as a solutions platform was to understand how MapR customers are using our stuff.  I must say that it's been fascinating.


People all over the world are literally reinventing their businesses, their technology stacks, their IT economics, their development methodologies, and their understanding and use of data. Incredible.  I've been in the tech business for 30 years and I have truly never seen the type of creative impulse that pervades the software development community today.


Even companies that have just been invented are reinventing themselves:

  • Amazon - from bookseller to the everything store, AND a cloud computing juggernaut
  • Uber - from "I'll give you a ride" to "Uber is not just an app, we’re changing the way that people and things move around your city"
  • Airbnb - from "dude, can I crash on your" to "Airbnb is a trusted community marketplace for people to list, discover, and book unique accommodations around the world"


But you don't have to be a household name to have something valuable to say about what you are doing with Hadoop, Spark, MapR, Elastic, Flink, etc.  The Exchange in the MapR Converge Community is where you can share views on what you are up to with the MapR Converged Platform. Those of you with use cases in production or in process, share whatever you can (not company secrets, of course).


I'm interested, and so is everyone else.
